About Us.

Lighting the way forward—one step at a time.

The Lighthouse Shelters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in the heart of Rusk County, Wisconsin. Founded in Ladysmith by a group of compassionate community members who saw a need and chose to act, our shelters were built on the belief that no one should face homelessness alone. What began as a local effort has grown into a vital resource.

At the Rusk County Lighthouse Shelter, we are more than a place to stay—we are a guiding light for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Located in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, our shelter offers emergency housing and supportive services designed to help people rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and direction.

We believe that every person has the potential to change their story, but change requires courage, commitment, and action. Our role is to illuminate the path forward—through shelter, case management, and access to vital resources—but it is up to our clients to take the steps. We serve those who are ready and willing to walk that path, embracing personal growth and striving toward self-sufficiency.

Our team provides compassionate support while holding space for accountability. We walk alongside our guests, encouraging them to set goals, make progress, and take ownership of their future. We do not promise easy answers—but we do promise unwavering support for those who are ready to do the work.

Together with our community partners, volunteers, and supporters, we are working to end homelessness in Rusk County—one life, one step, one success story at a time.
